Worship Arts

W.A.M. is the acronym for our Worship Arts Ministry - And that ministry is supported and led by lots of different people and teams. The primary way that W.A.M. serves the congregation at VP is to help facilitate environments in which people are encouraged in their worship of God. That takes place primarily within the context of Sunday morning gatherings, but also occasionally includes some special services and events. And while some of the tools and methods we use may seem “entertaining” in some ways, our primary goal is not to perform, showcase talent, or entertain, but rather to offer opportunities for the congregation to participate and actively engage in worshiping God. The planning of the Sunday gatherings is the cooperative effort of the Creative Planning Team which consists of both Teaching Pastors (Steve Rusticus & Matt Yount), the Managing Pastor (Earl Tieman), and the Worship Arts Pastor (Mike Wilkinson).

Congregational (group) singing is such a large part of what we do in W.A.M. because that’s something that most anyone can engage with on some level.  Reading scripture as part of our celebration time fits into that same category – it’s something we can all engage in on some level. Other elements like video are also used during our Sunday morning gatherings - which is a helpful tool in sharing stories of what God is doing in the lives of the people here and in our world.

Hopefully what happens is that we are encouraged, challenged and equipped during our Sunday gatherings to go and live out our faith, live lives of continual worship, and BE the church throughout all of the everyday, ordinary moments of life Monday through Saturday.
