Spiritual Disciplines
Spiritual disciplines are simply ways to help us be active and intentional in our relationship with God. They are simply any practice that helps create space in our lives where God can dwell in our midst. Deliberate, attentive and regular application of spiritual disciplines can help us withdraw from relying on ourselves and instead egnage in dependence on God. The goal isn't the discipline itself. A spiritual discipline is simply a means to a greater end - increased intimacy with God.
Think of them as the difference between trying to grow your faith in God and training to grow your faith in God. A spiritual discipline (also called "practice") is something YOU can do to grow your faith and better live the way of Jesus.
