VPM Wins Eight 2020 Regional Murrow Awards
VPM has received eight Regional Murrow Awards for reporting in 2019, including the prestigious honor of Overall Excellence.
Given by the Radio Television Digital News Association, Murrow Awards honor outstanding achievements in broadcast and digital journalism and are among the most prestigious in broadcast and digital news. Murrow Award winning work demonstrates the excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.
VPM News took home awards for feature reporting, hard news, investigative reporting, excellence in sound and the news series award for a collaboration with WHRO Public Media on seclusion and restraint in Virginia schools. In addition to the honor for Overall Excellence, VPM also won the multimedia and social media categories.
"VPM is thrilled to receive these Regional Murrow Awards demonstrating our comprehensive reporting, digital coverage and outstanding collaborations. We are especially proud to be recognized for overall excellence and our team efforts to serve a cross-platform audience with valuable storytelling," said Bill Miller, Vice President, News and Music at VPM.
VPM received seven regional honors in the Small Radio Market competition and one in the Large Market Radio competition for its collaboration with WHRO Public Media. Regional winners will advance to the National Murrow Award competition.
