Director of Business Operations

VPM is seeking a Director of Business Operations for our Shenandoah Valley office. This position will manage the staff and day-to-day operations of the station and will report directly to the CEO.  The Director of Business Operations will serve as a member of the senior team to provide strategic input on major organization wide initiatives, set priorities for the staff, and assist in budget and facilities management.

This position will manage office staff, interns, and contractors, troubleshoot immediate challenges and issues, and develop and implement efficient business procedures. This position will represent the organization in the community by attending local chamber and business events and assisting staff with community engagement and donor events.

The successful candidate will have five to eight years of experience in a leadership or management role with experience overseeing matrixed teams. A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, related field, or equivalent experience is required.

Candidates should be highly self-motivated problem solvers who approach work with a positive attitude. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals and personalities. Candidates should possess a passion for public media and the ability to articulate its value. Strong project management, organization, and technical skills are required.

Community Engagement Coordinator (Full Time) - Richmond

VPM is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to provide administrative support for the Community Engagement team’s programs that connect, educate, and engage donors, viewers, teachers, and listeners. This is a full-time position located in our Richmond office that reports directly to the Vice President of Community Engagement.

This position provides administration support for our Community Engagement team, including making travel arrangements, ordering and maintaining supplies and event assets, organizing volunteers, and assisting with social media postings. This position also provides event support, including assistance setting and cleaning up, managing event registration and post event evaluation data, and helping to represent the organization at events.

Successful candidates for this position will be organized, energetic self-starters who enjoy working in a fast paced work environment on a high energy team. Candidates should be flexible team players with a keen eye for detail and strong computer skills including knowledge of relational databases, Excel, PowerPoint, and various social media sites. Candidates should have excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills and should enjoy interacting with a wide variety of people. Candidates should have a valid VA driver’s license and the ability to lift 30 pounds. This position may require some evening and weekend hours.

Major Gifts Officer (Full Time) - Charlottesville/Shenandoah Valley
VPM is seeking a Major Gifts Officer for our Charlottesville and Shenandoah Valley markets. This is a full time position with benefits that reports to the Director of Major Gifts.

The Major Gifts Officer will cultivate relationships with donors in Charlottesville and the Shenandoah Valley. This position acts as a donor resource, staying current with programming, station initiatives and donor opportunities and representing donor interests.

The successful candidate will have a college diploma, supplemented by five years of non-profit development experience and a strategic entrepreneurial approach to donor cultivation. Candidates should have a track record of success working with philanthropic individuals in the Charlottesville/Shenandoah Valley and live in or nearby the area. Candidates should be patient, diplomatic communicators with strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Candidates must be proficient in MS Office and relational databases. Candidates must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings and should possess a valid Virginia driver’s license. Successful applicants will have a passion for public broadcasting and its mission and knowledge of public media content.
