A place that lays the foundation of spiritual development in our kids – a spiritually-developing place for kids to grow!

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.”
Matthew 7:24

At VictoryPoint we believe that God designed the family to be the primary discipling environment for children. God gives parents the privilege and the responsibility to raise their children to know God and to live as followers of Jesus on mission with God in his Kingdom. It’s a high calling for sure! But you don’t do it alone.

Our Kid Zone Children’s Ministry gathers with kids ages birth through 5th grade during the Sunday morning gathering. During the summer, we gather with kids birth through preschool while K-5th join the adults in worship.Through a blend of teaching, worship, activities and relationships with volunteers and other children, we help kids learn and experience what it means to love God and love others and be a disciple of Jesus.

Kid Zone Online Handbook

Parents:

Our children’s ministry is committed to providing a nurturing and safe environment where your children can learn to be like and live like Jesus.  Partnering with you in the discipleship of your child is a partnership we take seriously. We know the top things that parents want to see in a children’s ministry are; security, an engaging space, worship for the kids, service to others and communication.  And the trust you place in us when you drop your child off at Kid Zone is a trust we don’t take lightly.

Our 3 goals for 2018/19 in Kid Zone include:

  • Inclusion of Kids
  • Volunteer Empowerment
  • Parent Involvement

In an effort to keep you informed of how we do things in Kid Zone we’ve created this Handbook with you in mind.

On the following pages you’ll find information on all our Kid Zone age groups, including specific policies for each age group.  Please take time each Fall to update yourself on our policies, expectations and procedures as some might change from year to year.

If you have further questions after reading this Handbook, don’t hesitate to contact each room’s team leader (their name and contact info is noted in the Handbook) or get a hold of me as I’d love to meet you and help in any way I can.

On behalf of the Kid Zone team we feel privileged and are looking forward to being involved in your children’s lives in this capacity this season.

Our Vision for Children’s Ministry

“A place that lays the foundation of spiritual development in our kids – a spiritually – developing place for kids to grow!”

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.” –Matthew 7:24

Matthew 7:24 Teaches us that a life built on a solid foundation will withstand the storms of life because it had its foundation on the rock. Let’s lead, teach and include the kids and lay the foundation of spiritual development in our future generation!

At VictoryPoint we believe that God designed the family to be the primary discipling environment for children.  God gives parents the privilege and the responsibility to raise their children to know God and to live as followers of Jesus on mission with God in his Kingdom.  As parents, that’s the “spiritual job” God has given you. It is a high calling for sure! But you don’t do it alone.

Our job, as your church family, is to partner with you in this.  Our volunteers have a very important role! The volunteers have been blessed to disciple the kids weekly. Just as Matthew 28:19 says, God has called us to go and make disciples. We hope the things your child learns and experiences in Kid Zone both compliments and reinforces what they learn and see in you as their mom and dad.  We will do all we can to help disciple your children as a Kid Zone ministry, and will do all we can, as a church to encourage and equip you.

2018/19 Initiatives for Kid Zone include:

  • Partnering with our Mission Partners – leading our kids to discipleship with these partners.
  • Building Community – for kids and parents

Each week in most of the Kid Zone rooms we will send home a resource with your child, providing a summary of what your child learned, along with questions or activities you can use to stir up spiritual conversation with your child.  If you have not yet downloaded the Super Book App on your phone, for your kids, or yourself, please give it a try. It can be found on the Apple Store and Google Play. We encourage you to take advantage of these resources.

In addition, when we come across resources, encouragements and helps that we think would bless you as parents, we’ll be sure to share those with you via occasional e-mails, eNews, (Kid Zone Corner) mailing or handouts.  And please don’t hesitate to ask if there’s anything we can do or ways we can help partner with you!

Safety First

In order to maintain safe staffing ratios, rooms cannot open until there are two adults present.

Every Child Known

When you register your children please be sure to let us know if there are special ways we can best serve your child.  If there are ways your child learns best or interacts best, we’d like to know that, as well as any special needs he/she might have, including allergies.

Annual Registration

Each child (Infants – 5th Grade) need to be registered for Kid Zone each year.  Family Registration Forms are available online at VPM.org or at the Family Check-in Station and need to be filled out and turned in before the child attends Kid Zone.

Sunday Sign-In

Kid Zone rooms open 15 minutes before the gathering.  When signing-in parents should share any concerns or questions they may have with the Kid Zone staff.  The parent will receive a security tag for their child. In the event an issue or need arises, the parent will receive a text message on their cell phone.  Please keep your cell phone on vibrate during the morning service in case you are needed.

Sign-Out

The security tag must be presented to the staff before the child is released.  We want to ensure each child is returned safely to their parents. We appreciate parents picking up their children as soon as the morning service ends.

Kindergartners-2nd graders have a character all their own!  They have more “sit” and enjoy interacting with those around them.  Some of these kids experience the fun of learning in a more structured setting.   They build on what they learn through their large group activities, both before and after the lesson.
