Covering Up With Covers

Like a game of hide and seek or “Where’s Waldo?” when I throw together a show of cover songs, I like to hope that people are trying to place “what song is that?” Or, “Who did this song again?” That's the gist on this week's World Music Show (4/11).

It’s a fun game to play. But the main fun is that it’s just great to play almost two hours of cover songs that we’ve all grown accustomed to hearing over the years. Plus, hearing musicians from all over the world, singing a song like “Pretty in Pink,” covered by Ceci Bastida, sung in Spanish, is just a fresh way to hear a familiar song.

So, who’s being covered this week?

Here’s a list of the original musicians/singers with who they’re covering:

Nancy Sinatra ------ Eileen

Tears for Fears ----- Los Crema Paraiso

Depeche Mode ------ Los Crema Paraiso
