Listen.

It’s the holiday weekend. So, I’m going to keep this short and sweet--like a bottle rocket of sound.

I’ll be playing a best of new releases on this week's show (7/6) that perhaps you’ve missed out on or that perhaps you’d enjoy hearing more from. This means more: Carlos Santana, Angelique Kidjo, Youssou N’Dour and Shonen Knife and Making Movies.

But it also means tracks from new Miramar (local heroes), Angelica Garcia (local hero too), and a new song from our friend Monica da Silva of Complicated Animals.

I’m throwing in grooves from Bombino, Chopteeth (a great Afrobeat band out of DC), Nina Miranda, Marta Gomez and Meklit.

Not to missed as well will be beats from Quetzal, Panjabi MC, Ursula 1000, Specials AKA and the English Beat. Plus, two songs from a CD called “Look at my Soul: The Latin Shade of Texas Soul.”

Sound good? It will be. Tune in Saturday night from 8-10pm on WCVE Music 93.1 or 107.3FM or via this website to stream the show. Follow me on Twitter @wcveworldmusic and on Facebook at The World Music Show on WCVE.
