Bassist Edgar Meyer comes to Richmond with the Scottish Ensemble
Grammy Award-winnng bassist Edgar Meyer is performing this Thursday evening in the Modlin Center for the Arts at the University of Richmond. He'll be collaborating with the Scottish Ensemble, a virtuosic string orchestra from Glasgow. Over the years, Meyer and the ensemble have developed a unique and varied repertoire that spans hundreds of years. The concert in Richmond will feature music by Bach, Holst, and Vaughan Williams, as well as contemporary compositions by Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw and by Meyer himself. The Modlin Center for the Arts is proud to be the lead commissioner of a new work by Meyer that will be part of the program.
I had the opportunity to sit down with Edgar and discuss his long and illustrious career as both a bassist and composer, and he gave us a preview of the upcoming performance.
Yours in good music,
