They have something old, somethings new, a few for mama - it’s Time For The Blues!

Lowell Fulson Live with Jeff Dale & the Blue Wave Band

Henry Cook and I hope you will join us this Saturday night, July 9th, at 9:00 on Time For The Blues as we present another great show for your listening pleasure. We’re planning on pulling out all the stops and giving you our all for the entire show!

We’re in the heat of summer, and what better way to celebrate than with a little dose of Mississippi Heat? The band has a smoking new album out, Madeleine, and we’ve got three tracks for you. It’s been a while since we’ve heard from the band, and we’re delighted to have this new disc to share with you.

But that’s not all we’ve got for you this week.

We’re firing up the Wayback Machine and heading back to the halcyon days of 1984. Some of you may have hazy memories of those times: Ronald Reagan was president, gas was a buck thirteen a gallon, Steve Jobs launched Macintosh, the winter Olympics were held in Yugoslavia back when there was a Yugoslavia, the summer Olympics were held in Los Angeles, Cirque du Soleil was founded, and Terms of Endearment won the Best Picture Academy Award.

What’s up with 1984? Well, we’ve got a club recording that was made in 1984 of Lowell Fulson along with Jeff Dale and the Blue Wave Band. So slip into your best 1980’s apparel because we’re going back in time to join the audience on that rare night.

But even that’s not all we’ve got up our sleeves. We’ve got some tributes to mothers with salutes from Dave Weld And The Imperial Flames, Graná Louise, and Jimmy Burns.

And there’s still more.

We’ve got new releases from Robbin Kapsalis & Vintage #18, the Love Light Orchestra, and Richard Wilkins.

Oh, and I forgot the jokes, but that’s okay, you will forget them as well. Once we get going, all you’ll want to hear is this great music. So, Henry Cook and I will be glad to have your company if you care to join us at 9:00 this Saturday night. That’s July 9th, and you can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 89.1 WCNV, Heathsville; 90.1 WMVE, Chase City; and the flagships, 93.1 and 107.3 VPM-Music and 88.9 HD2, Richmond, and stream online here at VPM.org where it’s always Time For The Blues!
