Jess Gillam is a young saxophonist who is forging a new path in classical music and creating new repertoire for her instrument.  She's a dynamic and engaging musician, whom I had the pleasure of talking with recently.  The focus of our discussion was her album "Time," curated by Jess herself.  It features music rooted in minimalism, with a track sequence shaped to mirror the flow of energy in a 24-hour cycle. The album is centered around Michael Nyman’s virtuosic "Where the Bee Dances" concerto, framed by shorter tracks from pioneering and genre-breaking artists and composers.

Jess recently made her Carnegie Hall debut and performs all over the world.  She's also a presenter on TV and radio, appearing on the BBC Radio 3 with her own weekly show "This Classical Life."  Check out her music and the album!

Yours in good music,
