Cellist Alisa Weilerstein Talks About Her Musical Life and New CD Release

I recently had the opportunity to chat with cellist Alisa Weilerstein about her exciting musical life and her latest CD release with pianist Inon Barnatan. The two are longtime and exclusive recital partners who “play with a dazzling technique and a level of communication and expression so clear that they can practically finish each other’s phrases.” (Boston Classical Review).

This new album is their first release together and is on the Decca label. For this recording, they chose the Chopin and Rachmaninov cello sonatas – each a monumental work for both instruments, as well as shorter works by each composer.

Take a listen to our discussion and some brief excerpts. Enjoy!

Yours in good music,
