In Your Ear Episode 68: Fireside Collective
We’re excited to share with you some of the range, the creativity and the energy of Asheville North Carolina’s Fireside Collective. For a relatively new band, together since 2014, they’ve come a long way in impressing fans and critics alike.
Their first album Shadows and Dreams was released that year and in 2016 they won the prestigious band contest at MerleFest. The following year they were finalists for band of the year in the IBMA’s annual Momentum Awards. At this year’s IBMA in Raleigh, they were invited to back Jim Lauderdale at the Governor’s Mansion for a special invitation-only reception the very night before their sold out concert here in Studio A.
This captivating quintet covers all the musical territory under the big tent that the term bluegrass has grown to imply. It’s showtime…as we welcome from southern Appalachia, the Fireside Collective, recorded in Studio A on September 25th, 2019.
In Your Ear offers a chance to discover new artists and appreciate the “in the moment” creativity and inspiration that only live music can provide. Studio A is a “great room,” a haven for artists with intimate, friendly and informed audiences and peerless audio fidelity, thanks to engineers Carlos Chafin, Andrea Stefl and Paul Bruski.
