Stewart Deletes Endorsement From Anonymous White Nationalist

Republican Senate candidate Corey Stewart says he’s denounced affiliations to the far right. Today/On Wednesday he deleted a Twitter endorsement from a white nationalist.

The user called anti-fascist protesters "communist terrorists” and praised Stewart for criticizing them. Their profile photo featured a stormtrooper and made references to Nazi Germany.

In other tweets, the anonymous account called for a government sterilization program and claimed Haiti was better off under slavery.

The Stewart campaign immediately deleted Stewart’s retweet in response to questions from WCVE. A spokesman said Stewart wanted nothing to do with any kind of racism or hatred.

He said it wasn’t realistic to look into a Twitter users’ past statements before retweeting them.
