Three Republicans In Chesterfield Vie For One Seat On Board Of Supervisors
Republican Vice Chairman Steve Elswick is stepping down at the end of his second term. This has prompted three challengers for his Matoaca District seat.
Two of the challengers are currently in Chesterfield government. Craig Starhia is the current planning commissioner for Matoaca. While Rob Thompson is the chair of Chesterfield’s School Board. The third candidate is retired police officer Kevin Carroll.
Out of all three challengers, Starhia has spent* over $93,000 the most for his campaign with almost $64,000 coming from his own account, according to the Virginia Public Access Project. Starhia’s two competitors have spent* just under $30,000.
Whoever wins in the primary will run against the Democratic challenger Shajuan Mason in November.
